Residential home sales recorded through the MLS® system for the Kawartha Lakes Real Estate Association Inc. totaled 134 units in October 2019. This edged down a slight 3.6% (five sales) from October 2018 but was still close to the 10-year average for that month of the year.

On a year-to-date basis, home sales totalled 1,235 units over the first 10 months of the year, rising 8.4%from the same period in 2018.

There were 168 new residential listings in October 2019, falling 9.2% on a year-over-year basis.

Overall supply is in the rise but remains below average. Active residential listings numbered 464 units at the end of October, up 6.4%from the end of October 2018. The long-term average for that time of the year is more than 700 listings.

Months of inventory numbered just 3.5 at the end of October 2019, up a bit from the 3.1 months recorded at the end of October 2018 but still only about half the long-run average of 6.7 months for this time of year. The number of months of inventory is the number of months it would take to sell current inventories at the current rate of sales activity.
