Kawartha Lakes home sales up to start 2019 as more listings come on stream

Residential home sales recorded through the MLS® system for the Kawartha Lakes Real Estate Association Inc. totaled 65 units in January 2019. This was a year-over-year increase of 35.4%, albeit from a low point in January 2018.

There were 139 new residential listings in January 2019, jumping 46.3% on a year-over-year basis.

Overall supply is up from the extreme lows seen in 2016 and 2017 but is still below all other years. Active residential listings numbered 277 units at the end of January, up 42.1% from the end of January 2018.

Months of inventory numbered 4.3 at the end of January 2019, up slightly from the 4.1 months recorded at the end of January 2018 but below the long-run average of 10.9 months for this time of year. The number of months of inventory is the number of months it would take to sell current inventories at the current rate of sales activity.
