Cameron Lake is fed by Balsam Lake to the west and the Burnt River from the North. Both of these sources are in the north-west corner of the lake near the Trent-Severn Lock 35. The River Delta and area known as Goose Lake are a nature lover’s dream and Cameron Lake with its wide open trouble free boating is a cottager’s playground. The lake is some 6.7 kilometers long by 3.5 kilometers wide and is quite deep, reaching 18 meters in places. Fish found in the lake include: small-mouth bass, large-mouth bass, walleye (pickerel) and muskie.
Situated on the South-east shore of the lake is Fenelon Falls with Lock station 34 making the 7 meter (24 foot) allowing boats to pass through to Sturgeon Lake.
Lock 34 is Located on an island with the lock on one side and eponymous “falls” on the other, the island itself is a parkland maintained as part of the lock station by parks Canada and provides overnight boat docking and other amenities for overnight boaters. Your best views of the falls are from the lower side with several viewing locations available.
Adjacent to the locks you will find the downtown core with a wide selection of stores and restaurants.
